How to manage tracked inventory locations in Notify Me

Control which Shopify locations Notify Me uses to send back-in-stock notifications.

Updated today

Notify Me allows you to choose which Shopify locations should be monitored for inventory changes. This setting determines where inventory must be restocked in order for a customer to receive a notification.

How to select which locations to track

Step 1: Open location settings

In your Shopify admin, open the Notify Me app, then go to Settings and select Locations.

Step 2: Choose how you want to track locations

You will see two options:

  • Track all online fulfillment locations

  • Choose specific locations to track

If you want to control which locations are used, select the option to choose specific locations.

Step 3: Select your locations

A list of your Shopify locations will appear. Select the locations you want Notify Me to track. These are the only locations that will be used to determine when a product is back in stock.

Locations that are not selected will not trigger notifications, even if inventory is available there.

When to use specific location tracking

Tracking specific locations is useful if your inventory is spread across multiple warehouses or regions and not all locations should trigger notifications.

For example, you may only want notifications to be sent when inventory is available in locations that fulfill online orders for certain regions.

Using this with market-based inventory rules

If you are also using location-based inventory rules (market mapping), this setting becomes especially important. Only tracked locations will be available when assigning locations to markets. This means your selection here directly affects which inventory is considered available for each market.

For a full explanation of how this works, see location-based inventory rules.
