Understanding availability display and placeholder

Updated yesterday

Communicating clear delivery timelines is essential for pre-order products. The "Notify Me!" app allows you to easily display estimated shipping or availability dates directly on your product pages, helping manage customer expectations before they buy.

Setting Up Availability Dates

You can configure availability settings individually for each PreOrder offer you create.

  1. Navigate to Apps > Notify Me! > PreOrder.

  2. Select the offer you want to edit (or click "Add offer" to create a new one).

  3. Scroll down to the Availability (Shown on product page) section.

You will see three options for how to display availability to your customers:

1. Available Soon (Default)

Use this option if you do not have a confirmed date yet.

  • What it shows: Displays a generic message like "Coming soon" on the product page.

  • How to customize: You can change the default "Coming soon" text by going to Settings > Language > PreOrder > Widget display and editing the "Soon available text" field.

2. Available on a Specific Date

Use this option if you know the exact date stock will arrive.

  • How it works: Select the expected date from the calendar picker.

  • What it shows: The widget will display that specific date to all customers (e.g., "Expected availability: October 30, 2025").

3. Available on a Timeframe

Use this option for products that are made-to-order or always take a set amount of time to ship.

  • How it works: Enter the number of days it takes to fulfill the order after purchase (e.g., 7 days).

  • What it shows: The app automatically calculates the date based on when the customer is viewing the page. If set to 7 days, a customer viewing on the 1st will see an availability date of the 8th.

Customizing the Availability Message

You can change how this date appears to customers in the widget.

  1. On the main PreOrder dashboard, click Customize appearance.

  2. Ensure the Button on Product Pages toggle is ON.

  3. Look for the Widget description field.

Understanding the {{availability_date}} Placeholder

In the Widget description field, you will see a bit of text that looks like code: {{availability_date}}.

This is a placeholder. You do not need to enter a real date here; the app will automatically replace this placeholder with the actual date or text you selected in your offer settings (e.g., "October 30" or "Coming soon").

You can type any text you want around this placeholder. For example:

  • Default: Expected availability: {{availability_date}}

  • Custom example: Orders ship out around {{availability_date}}. Reserve yours now!
