How to let shoppers sign up with Shop (Sign in with Shop)

Let shoppers sign up for back-in-stock alerts in one tap with their Shop account, and find those requests fast.

Sign in with Shop adds Shopify's Continue with Shop button to your back-in-stock subscriber form. Shoppers with a Shop account can sign up for a restock alert in one tap, using the email saved in Shop, so there are no typos. This article shows you how to turn it on, what your shoppers see, and how to find the requests made with Shop.

Before you start

  • Sign in with Shop is off by default. You turn it on in the subscriber form settings.

  • Your subscriber form must show the Email field. While Email is hidden, you can't turn Sign in with Shop on.

  • Your shoppers need a Shop account. Shop lets them sign in or create one during the same flow.

  • Shopify decides when to offer Sign in with Shop. If Shopify doesn't offer it to a shopper, the button doesn't appear and your form works as usual.

Turn on Sign in with Shop

  1. From your Notify Me! dashboard, click Customize appearance under Back-in-stock, then click Subscriber form under Widgets.

  2. In the right-hand sidebar, find the Sign in with Shop row (below Email) and click Turn on. The row shows an On badge while it is on.

  3. Click Save.

To see the setting itself, click the Sign in with Shop row. The Show the Continue with Shop button checkbox is ticked while the feature is on, and you can turn it on or off here too.

The preview shows a "Continue with shop" button under the form while the feature is on. It is a stand-in: Shopify's real button only loads on your live store.

Important: If you hide the Email field later, the Shop button stops showing on your store. Show the Email field again to bring it back.

What your shoppers see

  1. On an out-of-stock product, the shopper opens your back-in-stock form. Shopify's Continue with Shop button appears under the form's submit button.

  2. The shopper picks the variant and fills in anything else your form asks for, such as quantity or the privacy policy checkbox.

  3. The shopper taps Continue with Shop, confirms in Shop, and comes back to the same product page.

  4. The request is sent right away, and the shopper sees your usual confirmation message.

Shop fills these fields for the shopper:

  • Email: always, from their Shop account.

  • Name: when your form shows the Name field.

  • Phone number: when your form shows SMS.

If Shop has a name or phone number, it replaces anything the shopper typed in that field. Everything else, such as the variant, quantity and consent choices, is sent the way the shopper set it. Signing in with Shop never ticks a marketing consent box for the shopper.

If your form requires a name or phone number and the shopper's Shop profile doesn't have one, the form comes back with their Shop email filled in and asks for the missing field. The shopper fills it in and submits the form.

Find requests made with Shop

Requests made with Sign in with Shop are marked Verified with Shop, so you can find them quickly.

  1. Go to your back-in-stock Requests page.

  2. Click the Sign in with Shop tab, next to the status tabs, to see every request made with Shop.

You can also add the Sign in with Shop filter and choose Verified with Shop. In the table, each of these requests shows a green Shop badge next to the contact point. Hover over it to see "Verified with Shop".

When you open one of these requests, its page also shows a Verified with Shop badge.

Frequently asked questions

Is Sign in with Shop available on my plan?

Yes, it is available on every plan. A request made with Shop is a normal back-in-stock request and counts toward your plan's request limit like any other.

What happens if I turn Sign in with Shop off later?

The Shop button disappears from your form. Requests that were already made with Shop keep their Verified with Shop mark.

Does a phone number from Shop reach my marketing contacts?

Yes, the same way a typed one does. If the shopper ticks your form's marketing opt-in box, their phone number from Shop is added to your connected contact list as SMS-subscribed.

My store asks for GDPR consent. Does that still work?

Yes. Shoppers who sign up with Shop get your GDPR consent message, just like shoppers who type their details.

Where does the Shop button appear?

Only on the back-in-stock subscriber form, both inline and in the popup. It doesn't appear on the wishlist, pre-order or low-stock widgets.

I turned it on, but I don't see the button on my store.

Check that the Email field is shown on your subscriber form and that you clicked Save. Shopify also decides whether to offer Sign in with Shop to each shopper, so some shoppers may not see the button.
