With the Market-Specific Preorders feature, you can control exactly which regions or countries see your preorder offers. This allows you to tailor your sales strategy based on local product launches, regional shipping availability, or specific country regulations.
Overview
By default, preorder offers in Notify Me! are shown to all customers globally. This new feature integrates directly with your Shopify Markets settings, allowing you to restrict an offer to one or multiple specific markets while keeping the "Add to cart" behavior for everyone else. This is ideal for merchants who have physical stock available in one region (e.g., Europe) but are still waiting for shipments in another (e.g., United States).
How it Works
When you limit a preorder offer to specific Shopify Markets:
Included Markets: Customers in these regions will see the Preorder button and any associated preorder settings (discounts, shipping notes, etc.).
Excluded Markets: Customers in all other regions will see your standard Shopify "Add to Cart" button. The product will behave as a normal, in-stock item for them.
Setup Instructions
Open the Offer Editor: In Notify Me!, go to Preorder Offers and select the offer you want to configure.
Locate the Markets Section: Scroll to the Markets settings.
Choose "Specific Markets":
Select the markets where you want the preorder strategy to apply.
Example: Select "United States" if you only want US customers to see the preorder option.
Save: Click Save.
Key Scenarios
If the visitor is in... | And the market is... | They will see... |
A Selected Market | Included in settings | The Preorder button and offer. |
A Different Market | NOT Included in settings | The standard Add to Cart button. |
Common Use Cases
Regional Stock Imbalance: You have 500 units in your UK warehouse (available for immediate shipping) but 0 units in your US warehouse. You can set a Preorder Offer specifically for the US Market so you don't lose sales while stock is in transit, while UK customers continue to buy as normal.
Staggered Product Releases: Launch a product as a "Preorder" in Australia a week before it officially goes on sale, while keeping it as a standard "Add to Cart" item in other regions where it has already launched.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the market feature affect my shipping rates?
No. Notify Me! only controls the visibility of the preorder button. Shopify remains the source of truth for all shipping rates, taxes, and regional pricing configured in your Shopify Markets settings.
What happens if a customer uses a VPN?
The app relies on Shopify’s market detection. If a customer uses a VPN to browse from a different country, they will see the button associated with that specific Shopify Market.
Troubleshooting
Standard "Add to Cart" is showing when it should be Preorder: Ensure the customer's detected market matches your selection in the Offer Editor. You can test this by using the Shopify Market "Preview" mode in your Online Store settings.
Cannot Save Settings: You must select at least one market if "Specific Markets" is enabled. If you want the offer to show to everyone, switch the setting back to "All Markets."
