If the Pre-Order button isn’t appearing on sold-out items, follow the steps below to fix the issue. The Pre-Order feature allows customers to buy out-of-stock products, helping you capture more sales.
General Setup Checklist
Make sure you’ve done the following:
Enabled the Pre-Order feature in the Notify Me! app.
Activated the App Embed in your Shopify theme.
Marked items as out of stock (inventory = 0).
Enabled "Continue selling when out of stock" in Shopify product settings.
Product Pages
1. Enable Pre-Order in Notify Me! App
Go to Shopify Admin > Notify Me! app > Preorder tab > Settings.
Click Edit on Visibility Status and turn on Pre-Order for product pages.
2. Activate App Embed
Go to Online Store > Themes > Customize.
Confirm the Notify Me! app embed is turned on.
🔁 Important: If you changed your theme, re-activate the App Embed. It doesn’t carry over automatically.
3. Check Inventory Level
The product must be sold out (inventory = 0 or less).
If it’s still in stock, the Pre-Order button won’t appear.
4. Turn On “Continue Selling When Out of Stock”
In Shopify, open the product settings.
Ensure Continue selling when out of stock is checked.
5. Is the Product Part of an Active Offer?
A product must be included in an offer that is currently active.
Go to the PreOrder app dashboard. In the "Offers" table, check the status of the offer that applies to your product.
For the Default Offer: If the product should follow your general rules, ensure the Default Offer has an Active status.
For Custom Offers: If the product is part of a specific campaign, find that offer in the table and ensure its status is Active. If it is Inactive, the button will not appear.
Collection Pages
1. Enable Pre-Order for Collections
Make sure the feature is turned on for collection pages in Notify Me! settings.
2. Check App Embed
Go to Themes > Customize and confirm the Pre-Order embed is active.
3. Confirm Pre-Order Conditions Are Met
The product must already show a Pre-Order button on the product page.
4. Ensure Add to Cart Button is Present
If the Add to Cart button is missing on collection pages, the Pre-Order button won’t appear.
5. Is the Product Part of an Active Offer?
A product must be included in an offer that is currently active.
Go to the PreOrder app dashboard. In the "Offers" table, check the status of the offer that applies to your product.
For the Default Offer: If the product should follow your general rules, ensure the Default Offer has an Active status.
For Custom Offers: If the product is part of a specific campaign, find that offer in the table and ensure its status is Active. If it is Inactive, the button will not appear.
Home Page
1. Enable Pre-Order for Home Page
Confirm the Pre-Order setting is turned on for home page listings.
2. Check App Embed
Navigate to Themes > Customize and ensure the app embed is active.
3. Confirm Product Meets Pre-Order Conditions
Product must meet all Pre-Order conditions and display correctly on the product page.
4. Ensure Add to Cart Button is Visible
The Pre-Order button requires the Add to Cart button to be visible on the home page.
5. Is the Product Part of an Active Offer?
A product must be included in an offer that is currently active.
Go to the PreOrder app dashboard. In the "Offers" table, check the status of the offer that applies to your product.
For the Default Offer: If the product should follow your general rules, ensure the Default Offer has an Active status.
