How to Set Up and Customize Pre-order Confirmation Notifications (Email & SMS)

What is the Pre-order confirmation message?

The Pre-order confirmation message is sent automatically to customers after they place a pre-order through the Notify Me! Back in Stock | Pre-order app. It includes order details and can be delivered via:

  • Email

  • SMS


Where to find and customize Pre-order confirmation

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Apps.

  2. Select Notify! Back in Stock | Pre-order.

  3. Click the PreOrder tab.

  4. Click Customize appearance.

  5. In the Notifications section, choose Pre-order confirmation.


How to enable Pre-order confirmation

  • Open the Email or SMS channel.

  • Use the toggle to turn the notification on or off.


How to customize the Pre-order confirmation email

Navigate to: PreOrder tab → Customize appearance → Email section

Email template options

Choose from built-in templates:

Custom templates are reviewed before going live
Once you submit a custom template, our team checks it against our notification and deliverability standards. Review can take up to 48 hours. Your previously active template keeps sending during this time, so customers always receive a confirmation. We'll email you once your template is ready or if it needs changes.

Email header

  • Show either your Shop name or your Logo.

  • If you pick Logo, upload the image you want to use.

Email content

  • Title — set a custom email title.

  • Description — add the details customers should see about their pre-order.

  • Buttons — edit the labels for:

    • Continue Shopping

    • Cancel Order

Email styles

  • Color theme — choose a color scheme that matches your brand.

  • Font family — pick your preferred font.

  • Font sizes — adjust the title and description sizes independently.

Social media

  • Add social media links to appear in the email footer.

  • Use the toggle to turn SMS notifications on or off.
