This article explains how SMS charges work, where you can see them, and how they appear on your Shopify invoice.
How SMS Pricing Works
SMS is an optional paid feature in Notify Me.
You are only charged for messages actually sent to customers.
SMS costs vary by:
Destination country (where your customer is located)
The Shopify billing period (e.g., June 8 to July 7).
Number of segments per messages sent

Example
Let’s say you installed Notify Me on June 17, and your Shopify billing period runs from June 8 to July 7. The U.S. SMS rate is $0.03 per segment.
From June 17 to July 7 (the billing period for your next invoice), you send the following SMS messages:
June 17: You send a 160-character message (1 segment) to 50 customers.
Total cost for June 17: 50 × $0.03 = $1.50
June 20: You send a 320-character message (2 segments) to 30 customers.
Total cost for June 20: 30 × (2 × $0.03) = $1.80
June 25: You send another 160-character message (1 segment) to 70 customers.
Total cost for June 25: 70 × $0.03 = $2.10
On July 7, the end of your Shopify billing period, you’ll receive an invoice for all the SMS charges during the period from June 17 to July 7:
Total SMS charges for the period (June 17 to July 7) = $1.50 (June 17) + $1.80 (June 20) + $2.10 (June 25) = $5.40
Note: Charges are tracked in real-time, but the final total will be calculated and reflected on your next Shopify invoice. For more details on how Shopify’s billing method works, refer to the Shopify Billing Overview.
Where You See SMS Charges
Your SMS charges appear in two places:
Notify Me Dashboard – Under Add-on Charges for real-time tracking.
Shopify Invoice – Grouped under Transaction fees with other usage-based charges (e.g., PreOrder fees, extra notifications).
Charges are tracked in real time but billed according to your next Shopify billing cycle.
