When Are Extra Charges Applied?
Extra charges apply only to soft-capped features — features that keep working even after you exceed your plan’s monthly limit (like Notifications or Wishlist on new plans).
If you go over your included limit, we keep the feature running and charge a small per-unit fee for the extra usage.
Features with hard caps stop working at their limit, so you’ll never be charged extra for them.
How It Works
For every soft-capped feature in your plan (like Notifications or Wishlist, depending on your setup):
Your plan includes a monthly usage allowance (e.g., 50 notifications).
If you go over that limit, each additional unit is billed at a per-unit rate.
These rates differ by feature and plan.
How We Calculate the Amount
For each soft-capped feature, we track:
The number of units included in your plan
The number of units you’ve used above that limit
The per-unit rate for each extra unit
The amount shown in your dashboard under “Add-on Charges” reflects your total extra usage since you started your paid plan with Notify Me.
This calculation is based on your Notify Me plan cycle, which may not match your Shopify billing interval. As a result, the amount you see in the app may differ from what appears on your Shopify invoice.
What About SMS and PreOrder?
SMS and PreOrder follow their own pricing models and are calculated separately from usage-based features like Notifications or Wishlist.
However, in your Shopify invoice, all of these charges — including SMS, PreOrder, and any extra usage — appear together under transaction fees.
The “Add-on Charges” shown in your Notify Me dashboard include all of these components for visibility, but the way each is calculated may differ.
Important Notes
Extra usage charges only apply if you’ve granted permission for usage-based billing through Shopify.
Features with hard caps stop working at the limit — no extra charges apply to them.
The “Add-on Charges” shown in the app reflect usage tracked by Notify Me, not what appears in your Shopify invoice.
