WhatsApp is now available as a Back-in-Stock notification channel, offering high visibility to re-engage customers. However, unlike SMS or email, WhatsApp requires messages to use Meta-approved templates, which limits customization options.
Why WhatsApp templates are restricted
Meta (WhatsApp's parent company) enforces a strict template approval process. All WhatsApp messages must:
Follow a pre-approved format
Contain specific allowed variables
Be reviewed and approved by Meta before use
Because of this:
You cannot edit the message text or structure
Only the approved English version is currently available
Customization features will be added as Meta expands support
Language availability
Currently, WhatsApp templates are supported in English only. We’re actively working to:
Add more languages based on usage and demand
Expand availability as Meta approves additional translations
What's coming next
We plan to introduce:
Multi-language support
Partial customization (similar to SMS)
More message types beyond first alerts and reminders
Flexible sections as Meta policies evolve
These updates will be shared as soon as they’re ready.
