Why Use Pre-orders?
Enabling pre-orders helps you maintain sales momentum even when inventory runs out. Customers can place orders for out-of-stock items, reducing lost revenue and keeping interest high during restocks.
Step-by-step Instructions
1. Open the Notify Me App
Log in to your Shopify Admin.
Go to Apps from the left-hand menu.
Select Notify Me to open the dashboard.
2. Access Pre-order Settings
In the Notify Me dashboard, click the PreOrder tab.
Select Settings under the PreOrder Functionality section.
You’ll land on the Pre-order Settings page.
3. Set Product Applicability
In the Applies to section, choose:
“All out-of-stock products with “Continue selling when out of stock” enabled, except:”
This applies pre-order functionality to most out-of-stock items while letting you exclude specific products.
4. Exclude Specific Products (Optional)
Under Exclusions, search for and select individual products you do not want to be available for pre-order.
5. Save Your Settings
After making your selections, click Save to apply changes.
