What Is a Reminder Notification and How to Set It Up for Back-in-Stock Products

Learn how to set up and optimize reminder notifications for back-in-stock products to boost customer engagement and sales.

Updated yesterday

In today’s fast-paced e-commerce environment, consistent engagement with customers is essential. While a single notification about a restocked product is helpful, reminder notifications can increase customer interest and encourage purchases. Our app’s Reminder Channel feature makes it easy to send these reminders and boost engagement. Here’s how you can set it up and optimize its use.

Why Reminder Notifications Matter

While a single alert about a restocked product is effective, reminder notifications offer added benefits:

  • Busy Customers: Customers juggle multiple commitments. A gentle reminder helps bring their attention back to a product they previously wanted.

  • Reinforce Interest: Multiple reminders keep your product and brand fresh in the customer’s mind.

  • Increase Sales Opportunities: More frequent reminders increase the chances of a purchase by keeping your product top of mind.

How to Activate and Customize the Reminder Channel

  1. Navigate to the Notification Tab

    • Log in to your Notify Me! app and select the 'Back in Stock' tab from the dashboard.

  2. Access the Reminder Tab

    • In the Settings section, click on the 'Reminder' tab. This is where you’ll manage your reminder settings.

  3. Activate Reminders

    • Toggle on the channels (email, push, SMS, etc.) where you want automatic reminder notifications to be sent.

  4. Select Your Audience

    • Choose which group of customers should receive reminders. You can select based on who interacted with the original notification (e.g., clicked but didn’t purchase) - You can refer to this article for further explanations.

  5. Set the Timing

    • Decide when you want the reminder notifications to be sent. You can schedule them to be sent 1, 2, or more days after the original notification (you can check out this article for more details)

  6. Personalize the Reminder

    • While the default reminder message is effective, you can customize the appearance and wording to match your brand’s tone. Simply click on Customize appearance in the Settings page to personalize the reminder notifications for Email, SMS, and Push Notifications channels.

7. Save Your Settings

  • Once you’re satisfied with your configuration, click Save to apply the changes.

Making the Most of the Reminder Channel

  • Be Strategic with Timing: Avoid overwhelming your customers with too many reminders. Find a timing balance that keeps them engaged without being intrusive.

  • Keep the Message Fresh: Occasionally update your reminder message to make it feel new and relevant.

  • Analyze and Adjust: Review the performance of your reminders. If certain timings or messages yield better results, adjust accordingly.
